Republican National Platforms: Troubling Changes from 2016 to 2024

There are substantial troubling changes in the national Republican Platform 2024, adopted yesterday, 9 July 2024, by the Republican National Committee.  The 2016 Platform was strong in support of the sanctity of human life, religious freedom, rights of conscience, marriage, family, and opposition to abortion . . . The 2024 Platform is much shorter, speaks little on some of these topics, recognizes state authority regarding abortion policy, but only says, “We will oppose Late Term Abortion” – leaving the door open for supporting abortion nationally in the first and second trimester.
